The Shaun in SHAUN10
The discount code on this site is my husband's name, and a few of you have asked, so: he set up the affiliate account, he got me reading the studies in the first place, and the commission goes to his account. The site is mine. The reading is ours. The code is his. The slightly longer version.
Why a pen name
Because I'd like to keep writing plainly about hormones, bodies and a category the internet gets weird about, and I'd like to do that without my kids' teachers reading it. {NAME} is the name. Everything else — the forties, the group chat, the spreadsheet, the supplier — is real.
How this started
Somewhere in my forties my body changed the rules and forgot to send the memo. When I went looking for something solid on peptides, I found exactly two kinds of sources: studies I needed a dictionary for, and beautiful websites that all ended at a 'book a consult' button. I wanted the thing in between.
So I started reading properly. Then I started writing explanations for friends. Then the friends became a group, and the explanations became long enough that it was easier to put them somewhere and send a link. This is the somewhere.
What I do and don't do
- I read trials and write down what was tested, in whom, and what happened. When nobody has tested something, I say so. That sentence is the brand.
- I publish the negative results and the forum comments that say 'nothing happened,' because nobody else does.
- I link two suppliers — ZestyRat because I trust it completely, Amino Club because it's the group's genuine second vote — with affiliate links disclosed on every page.
- I don't sell anything, run consults, or tell anyone what to put in their body. I'm not qualified to and I'm suspicious of anyone online who claims to be.
The money, plainly
If you buy through one of the two affiliate links on this site, I earn a commission at no cost to you. That's how the site pays for itself. It hasn't changed a word I've written, and the proof is that half the site is me saying a compound my own supplier sells has nothing behind it. The full disclosure is here.
Say hello
The newsletter at the bottom of every page is the best way. One letter a month, no hype, and I read the replies.
