About 230 PubMed papers on BPC-157; not one indexed as a clinical trial. The study passed around as its 'human safety data' enrolled two people at a private Florida clinic. The only registered Phase 1 finished in 2016 and never posted results. Oral BPC-157 — the most-sold form — has never been studied in a human. The FDA's own briefing document says quality data are 'lacking or inadequate.' TB-500 borrows its credibility from a different molecule entirely.
What gets sold for it
BPC-157 is the 'Wolverine' peptide: tendons, joints, gut lining, 'leaky gut,' injury recovery. It comes injectable and, increasingly, as oral capsules. TB-500 is usually sold beside it as the other half of the stack. For women in their forties — frozen shoulder, achy knees, a gut that changed its mind about dairy — the pitch lands.
What's actually been studied
The numbers. Roughly 230 papers, zero indexed clinical trials. A 2025 scoping review from the University of Utah, no conflicts of interest, found 'only three pilot studies' in humans — a knee-pain injection study, an interstitial cystitis study and an IV safety study — and concluded the compound is investigational.
The two-person study. The paper marketed everywhere as BPC-157's human safety evidence enrolled two people — one man in his late fifties, one woman in her late sixties — at a private clinic in Florida, and both were already getting IV BPC-157 before the study started. I lead with this because once you know it, every 'clinically proven safe' claim reads differently.
The trial that never reported. A Phase 1 study of 42 people was completed in March 2016. Ten years later its status is 'unknown' and no results were ever posted. A recruiting hamstring trial caps enrollment at age 45, which structurally excludes most of perimenopause.
Oral. Every gut, tendon and joint claim rests on rat studies. The oral form — the capsules, the one most people buy — has never been studied in a human at all. The FDA's own July 2026 briefing document noted that none of the routes people actually buy — capsules, injections, nasal sprays, creams — have been studied at all, and flagged an immunogenicity risk that aggregation could amplify.
TB-500. The real human trials are of thymosin beta-4, the full 43-amino-acid natural peptide, for venous leg ulcers and cardiac ischemia. TB-500 is a short synthetic fragment. The safety and efficacy data were generated with a different molecule for different indications and don't transfer. A 2026 sports-medicine review: 'human orthopaedic data are lacking.'
The part that's specific to us
Only five of those 230 papers carry both 'human' and 'female' tags. There is no BPC-157 research in perimenopausal women. The FDA committee's July 2026 favourable vote — against the agency's own scientists — was advisory; it didn't make BPC-157 legal to compound and it didn't create any evidence. If you see 'FDA cleared BPC-157' in a headline, the headline is wrong.
What we order, and why I'm telling you the evidence first
It's still the most-ordered vial in my group chat. I'm not going to pretend otherwise, and I'm not going to pretend that's evidence. What I can tell you is where: ZestyRat, batch COA on the product page, and in a category where roughly a third of vials fail independent testing, that COA is the only thing standing between you and a very expensive mystery. Amino Club stocks it too and is the group's second vote. Swiss Chems is the third, and the one to use if you want to pay with a card and verify the vial by serial before you open it.
Questions I actually get
Is BPC-157 FDA-approved now?
No. An advisory committee voted favourably in July 2026, against FDA's own scientists. Advisory means advisory. Legal compounding needs a full rulemaking that historically takes two-plus years. Nothing changed for buyers that day.
Does oral BPC-157 work?
It has never been studied in a human. Everything you've read about it is from rats or from people selling capsules.
Where do you order?
ZestyRat, code SHAUN10, COA open in the other tab. The whole bit.
Amino Club is the one that looks like it was designed for us — soft branding, ISO 17025 third-party COAs, US shipping. It's the group chat's second vote, and the code SHAUN22 works there. Why it's number two, not number one →
Swiss Chems is third on my list and the only one that lets you pay with an ordinary Visa, scratch a serial off the lid to verify that vial before you open it, and send it back inside 30 days if it's unopened. Their BPC-157 starts at $39.99. Code UNCAGED for 10% off. Why I added a third supplier →
Nothing on this page is medical advice or a recommendation to use anything. The compounds discussed are sold as research materials and are not FDA-approved for the uses people talk about. I read; I don't prescribe. Talk to a clinician who knows your history.
